Dows Lane..... Dows Lane School is a friendly, welcome, open
place where children are respected and their needs are understood. They
are suported by caring, highly qualified professionals and an actively
involved group of parents.
Reading, Writing, and speaking surround the students...... In
a rich language environment, children are taught the skills they need to
become proficient readers and prolific writers.
We use a hands on approach to science and math...... While they
are learning the content of the science curriculum, children also observe,
classify, measure, collect data, predict, and do experiments to develop
problem solving skills. Basic math facts and problem solving are stressed
in intermediate classes.
All students receive computer instruction...... Students use
the computer lab about once a week under the guidance of our their classroom
teacher and a computer aide. All classrooms have computers hooked
up to educational networks. Student projects are intergrated throughout
the curriculum.
We provide a well rounded education...... Classroom education
is supplemented by physical education, music, art and theater.
Special services are provided where they are needed.... Children
who require speial assistance to achieve success in school have access
to special education classes and resource teacher. We provide remedial
instruction in reading, writing and math, a speech and language specialist,
and an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. Dows Lane has a full-time
school psychologist.
