Have you ever looked up in the sky? Have you seen anything flying by? Well if you haven't, you are going to start today. You're going to become bird crazy! You have been hired by the Bronx Zoo to work in their Aviary, but before you begin your job, you will need to know a few things about birds.
Your job is to complete a picture
and description of a bird to add to a Guess Who? Bird Show. You should
paint a picture of your bird using Kid Pix Studio, then use Student Writing
Center to write five facts about your bird.
The
Process
1. Please read all directions before you begin.
2. Your job is to find out information on one bird. You will be working with a partner to do your research.
3. First look at the chart and select a bird.

2. Where is your bird's habitat in the summer?
3. What does your bird use to make their home?
4. What does your bird eat?
5. What does your bird look like?
6. How can you help your bird?
5. After you finish your research, you need to pick five of your favorite facts about your bird. You will then use these facts for your Guess Who page. You will use Student Writing Center to make a fact page, as if you were the bird. You do not want to put your bird's name on the page, since your classmates will be guessing your bird. You might want to put something like I am a bird who is smaller than a chicken and has many colors. Make sure you save your work.
6. Now that you have finished your research and your Guess Who facts, it is time to begin your drawing on Kid Pix Studio. You need to make a picture of your bird in its habitat. Make sure you save your work.
7. If you finish
everything, you may want to write a note to a scientist at the Bronx Zoo.
You can send your animal questions to Friends of the Zoo at foz@wcs.org.
