Contrary to popular belief, squirrels do not really know where they bury and hide their nuts.Although a typical squirrel may hide thousands of nuts a year, it can only remember for about  twenty minutes where they are hidden. A squirrel may dig up less than a tenth of the nuts it has actually buried.
