Introduction:
You have been studying about colonial life and learned that there were 13 original colonies. What happened to them? Where did they go? How did the 'Colonization of America' happen? Well sit back, relax, enjoy the video that will answer some of these questions!

Task:
Now that you enjoyed the little movie it is time to take a short quiz and see how much you really know about the birth of America.
Whew! That was a lot to do. Now the work begins.Your help is needed to complete a book that will help inform others. Mrs. Ginsberg needs your assistance! Students are always asking for information about many of the topics that helped form this new nation. She never has enough materials to go around. Your task will be to help design and create a "The Forming of America" scrapbook. The book will be laminated, bound, bar coded, and placed in the Dows Lane library Reference Section. Mrs. Ginsberg, and your peers, will be so ever grateful!

Process:
1.  Your teacher will set you up with a partner
2.  You will be assigned a topic from the table below
3.  Your job is to gather pictures and information on your assigned topic. Explore each of the links provided
4.  Each topic that you write about must have at least 7-10 expanded sentences
5.  You will write down your information on the template pages provided
6 . You are your partner will switch roles each week. One of you will be the technician, the other the recorder
7.  You will be given 2 computer sessions to gather your information. If you need more time it is your responsibility to get it on your own time, or in your classroom
8. Your work will be published using the software program Microsoft Publisher. Your publication should include pictures from the Internet.  Make sure that your information is 'easy-to-read', informative and interesting.  Make sure your work is spell checked and proofread. You will be given 3 sessions to work on this part of the project. It is up to you to use the computers in your classroom if you do not have enough time in the lab to do the work!
10. If you are finished ahead of time explore the 'Take A Break" section in the webquest!

Take A Break:

Evaluation: Your work will be evaluated on how well you and your partner did your scrapbook page. It will be checked for completion (did I proofread? did I spell check? have I gathered and written enough information about my topic? do I have good graphics displayed in my publication, and do I have enough of them? did I follow the template guidelines?)

Conclusion: Your work will all be combined into one classroom scrapbook. You will present it to your classroom teacher. In addition, she will use it as a wonderful resource for the next year's 4th grade when they start to study the "Forming of America".
