How Sound is Long Island Sound?

Please complete this worksheet before you begin your tri-fold brochure
creation. Work with your partner and answer all questions. Use the Resource
section on the webquest to find your answers. You can use outside resources
too.
Your brochure will have 6 sections to it.

Section 1:
- your title for the brochure
- your full names and the name of the class you are in
(e.g. Mr. Cullen's Class)
- some sort of picture of the sound or sound life
Section 2:
- history/information about the sound
- special qualities of it
- what is the sound used for?
- include a picture
Section 3:
- what gifts the sound has to offer us and why it is so
precious
- information on the marine animals found in the Sound
- information on the marine plants found in the Sound
- include some pictures
Section 4:
- historical sites along the sound
- museums to visit/sites to see/places to go along the
Sound
- what recreational facilities can you find/do along the
Sound?
- include a picture
Section 5:
- information about a real "pollution incident"
- why do you think Sound pollution threatens life on land?
- some everyday products that are potential pollutants
- the effects pollution has on our waters, our land and
ultimately ourselves
Section 6:
- ways to prevent future water pollution &
- author information section (this will have a picture
of the authors of this brochure and information about you)
- what will you do, as the authors of this brochure, to
help prevent pollution of Sound waters.
