Introduction: In this project students will research and study countries
in South America.
You will be assigned to a group of three students. You will be asked
to find information on a variety of subjects. The information will
be found at various Internet sites. You will then write a report
based on the information you gathered. The report will be broken
down into paragraphs according to each subject. In addition, since
we study Spanish in our class, certain parts of the report will be written
using a select group of Spanish words. So, not only will you learn
a lot about the country you are researching, you will also build on the
vocabulary of Spanish words will already know.
Task:
to research a country,
work with other students cooperatively &,
write a report on your research.
Process: I will divide the class into groups
of three students.
One student will be the "Daily Recorder"
of information. That person has to clearly write down the necessary
information. It must be clear because other students will be
using this information to write their reports. Although the information
will be gathered as a group, the reports will be written individually.
Look at the Report Sheet
to know what you have to do.
Another student will be the "Technician".
That person will be the keyboard person. He or she must be
open to suggestions from other committee members.
The third person will act as the "Daily
Leader" of the group, making sure that all
information is properly recorded and that important sites are bookmarked
to return to later, if necessary.
*The group will gather all
necessary information in about four sessions.*
Evaluation: Each student’s report will be evaluated on the basis
of proper paragraph formation, completeness, writing full and interesting
paragraphs, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and presentation to
the class. Prior to presentation, the report should be read several
times to parents and other committee members to familiarize the reader
with all names and words in the report. The report should flow smoothly
from the reader and the reader should be ready to answer questions from
the class.
Conclusion: You will each present your finished reports. In addition,
a luncheon consisting of foods from the various countries will be given.
You will each pick a dish to create and bring in to share with your classmates
and teacher.
