This is a tent from the Big Apple
Circus. It was made in Bordeaux, France. It is made of PVC
fabric, the tent is totally opaque. The diameter is 138 feet.
It's height is 52 feet at highest point (masts), 46 feet at center (cupola).
Top is made of 6 sections laced together with the cupola cover. Side
wall made of 8 sections, totaling 433 feet in circumference and measuring
16 feet high. The tent is supported by four telescopic masts which
are raised with electric motors and
depending on the number of motors
per mast (it can have one or two), a mast can weigh between 2,300 and 2,600
pounds. It's masts are 61 feet highwhen erected (fully extended),
and 46 feet long when in traveling position (retracted). The cupola
is a domed oval frame, 41 feet long, 6 feet 8 inches wide, and 4 feet 5
inches high. It weighs a total of 2,200 pounds, is supported by the masts
and is also manufactured in Tournes, France. The periphery of the
tent is supported by 96 side poles measuring 16 feet high. The masts
and tent are tied to a total of 190 stakes. It takes 5 hours for
a crew of 35 to set up the tent and 3 hours to tear it down, (this does
not include installation of seating, lighting and sound systems and setting
the ring).
